How to Finish Basement Walls and Ceilings

View Transcript

Turn a basement into a family room, recreation room, or office by using waterproof materials created especially for basements.

Note: This video is the first in a two-part series. Click here to view the second installment that deals with floors and lighting.

If there is one cardinal rule about finishing a basement it would be:  the basement must be dry. Water seeping into a finished basement will turn it into a space that uncomfortable, unpleasant and, quite possibly unhealthy.

However, even if a basement has been adequately waterproofed, an undetected plumbing leak somewhere else in the house will send water streaming to the lowest point and that, of course, is the basement.

This basement finishing system is completely non-organic, which means that even if the basement does get wet, the floor, walls and ceiling will not be ruined.
