Driving a large screw into hard wood like oak can be difficult, but these tips will make it easier.
First, be sure to choose the right driver tip for your drill. There are three different sized Phillip bits. Number one is for very small screws, number two is for medium screws and number three is for large screws. You can tell the number three bit by its blunt end.
After selecting the right bit, lubricate the screw with either soap or wax. If the threads run the full length of the screw, then so should the wax.
If you have the right bit for the right screw, and you have lubricated your threads, driving the screw should be fairly easy going.
