Many people use a screwdriver to remove a hinge pin when taking off a door. They simply place the tip up under the head of the pin and then tap on the end with a hammer. But a screwdriver is not a striking tool, and using it that way can damage it.
Instead, Ron recommends using a standard cold chisel.
First you should make a slight modification. Use a belt sander to ground the tip so that instead of having a blunt edge you create a rather sharp edge.
This will allow a good grip on the edge of the pin.
